1. Scope and accountability
This Privacy Policy applies to this website, the shared email address info@binternational.ca, and related communications handled by the independent corporations listed in the Entity Schedule below (collectively, the “B International entities,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). “B International” and “B International Group” describe a shared commercial identity and are not, by themselves, separate legal entities.
Each B International entity is responsible for the personal information it collects, uses, discloses, or retains. The same Privacy Officer and shared contact details serve all participating entities. When an enquiry concerns another division, it may be directed to the appropriate B International entity as described below.
2. Information we collect
We collect only information reasonably necessary for our activities. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- your name, email address, telephone number, company, role, and preferred language;
- the contents of an enquiry, correspondence, attachments, and information you choose to provide;
- professional or business information relevant to a requested service, project, publication, training initiative, brand, or trade opportunity; and
- limited technical information generated when you visit the website, such as IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, timestamps, security events, and server logs.
The website stores your language preference in your browser. We do not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural advertising on this website.
Important notice for legal enquiries
Do not send confidential, privileged, or time-sensitive information through the general email address unless B International - Avocats has confirmed that it may be sent. Contacting us does not, by itself, create a lawyer-client relationship.
3. How we use information
We may use personal information to respond to enquiries; assess opportunities; provide information about services, projects, publications, training, or brands; establish and manage a professional or commercial relationship; route an enquiry to the appropriate division; operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website; meet professional, legal, regulatory, accounting, and record-keeping obligations; and protect our rights and those of others.
If we wish to use personal information for a materially different purpose, we will obtain consent when required by law.
5. Consent and choices
We obtain consent in a manner appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. By voluntarily emailing the shared address, you understand that the receiving entity may direct the enquiry to another participating B International entity when relevant to your request. You may withdraw consent, subject to reasonable notice and legal or contractual restrictions, although this may limit our ability to respond or provide services.
You may change or remove the website language preference through your browser settings or by clearing local website data.
6. Retention and safeguards
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the identified purposes and applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, professional, tax, accounting, and limitation-period requirements. Retention periods vary according to the nature of the information and the relationship. Information is then securely destroyed or anonymized where permitted and appropriate.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards proportionate to the sensitivity of the information. No email, website, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
7. Transfers outside Québec
Our service providers or business activities may result in personal information being stored, accessed, or processed outside Québec or Canada. Information in another jurisdiction may be subject to that jurisdiction’s laws. Before communicating personal information outside Québec, the responsible entity will take the steps required by applicable law, including assessing relevant privacy factors and using appropriate contractual or other safeguards.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and limited exceptions, you may request access to or correction of personal information held about you, ask questions about its collection and handling, withdraw consent, or submit a privacy complaint. You may also request information about the categories of people who have access to your information and its applicable retention period.
We may need to verify your identity before responding. A written request should provide enough detail to identify the information or concern. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
9. Entity schedule
The following independently incorporated entities currently participate in this website and policy:
This schedule may be updated as the group evolves. Each incorporated entity remains separately accountable for the personal information under its control.
10. Contact, requests, and complaints
Questions, access or correction requests, consent withdrawals, and complaints may be addressed to the shared Privacy Officer. Please state which division or interaction your request concerns, if known.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, entities, services, or legal obligations. The current version and effective date will be posted on this page. Material changes will be brought to your attention as required by law.
